July 6th 2009 marked a great day in the history of football in [[Puttenham]].It was the day the committees of Godalming United FC and [[Puttenham Parish Council]] shook hands on an agreement to bring village football back to the village after an absence of nearly 25 years.Godalming United FC became Puttenham United FC, ending their 4 year travel around the local area in search of a place they could call home.

Chris Darwen, Club Manager originally the club with the dream and plan to go from the lowest Saturday division possible (Guildford & Woking Alliance Div 4) to playing in the FA Cup Qualifying Rounds (Combined Counties Prem) in only 12 seasons. The Club areseasons in andone promotion behind the original plan having finished 3rd in Division One last season.

The move to Puttenham is another part of the dream coming together. Finally the team have a place to call home, where they can get to know the local people, generate local interest and hopefully even a fan base! [[Puttenham]] is a beautiful village and the ground itself will quickly become known as one of the best in the league. The Parish Council have been fantastic, helping the club turn this around very quickly.Equally The Good Intent have been very helpful, sponsoring the club as well as introducing all kinds of people that could be interested in supporting the club.

This promises to be a very exciting season – the team know they have the quality to win more games than we lose and they are looking to everyone in [[Puttenham]] to come along for the ride – it should be a lot of fun!”

Chris is also keen implement the longer term plans of getting youth football back into Puttenham, hopefully with some of the local teenagers training with the club with a view to starting a reserve team in the 10/11 season.
