
Wanborough Great Barn in Snow 2009
Wanborough Great Barn, Near Guildford, Surrey
Wanborough Great Barn dates from 1388 and was built by the Cistercian monks from Waverley Abbey.
A dendro-chronlogical examination in 1997 show the trees used to build the original earliest parts of barn were felled or shortly after AD 1388. Wanborough Manor Great Barn: An archaeological analysis of the structure, Peter Gray (Lingfield), June 1997. Further alterations used timber felled in autumn 1705.
The barn contains two Ocagonal posts which re-used timber from another building. These have been between AD1309 and 1354. Speculation suggests that these may have come from Waverley Abbey or Farnham Castle.

2010 Opening days
Visitors are very welcome to visit the Great Barn between 2pm and 5pm on the following days during 2010.
Admission Charge: Free. Donations welcome.
The church is also open and is about 50 metres further up the lane.

Heritage weekend
The barn is also open for the Guildford Heritage Weekend held over a weekend in mid September each year.
