Village

The villages of Seale and Sands have a combined population of 900. Seale is a village of character in a Conservation Area, with the church very much at its centre. It has an arts and crafts centre, a village hall (of which the Rector is an officer) where many social events are held, a nursery school, and a football ground.

Church

St Laurence Church , Seale is a beautiful church surrounded by a large open churchyard. Its history goes back to the 12th century and the font just inside the entrance is from this period. The bell tower houses a peal of six bells, the oldest and largest forged in the 16th century; they are rung each Sunday. The church has seating for about 180 and an active choir. Attendance on a normal Sunday averages about 40, but on feast days and special occasions the church is often packed.
