Wanborough Great Barn in Snow 2009
Wanborough Great Barn, Near Guildford, Surrey
Wanborough Great Barn dates from 1388 and was built by the Cistercian monks from Waverley Abbey.
A dendro-chronlogical examination in 1997 show the trees used to build the original earliest parts of barn were felled or shortly after AD 1388. Wanborough Manor Great Barn: An archaeological analysis of the structure, Peter Gray (Lingfield), June 1997. Further alterations used timber felled in autumn 1705.
The barn contains two Ocagonal posts which re-used timber from another building. These have been between AD1309 and 1354. Speculation suggests that these may have come from Waverley Abbey or Farnham Castle.
